FINALLY.....We got our tree!

What and ordeal this day turned out to be, but.....we got our tree.  The story is too long to tell, let's just sufice it to say.....we hit all the holiday traffic going home from their Thanksgiving Holiday.  So, spent way too much time on the highway.  Lesson learned!
Mr. Carpenter is outside building a platform so our little village will have a place to be erected under the tree.   If it's not one thing, it's another.  Isn't that the way?
With Champagne is hand... I toast all of you who have spent the day trying to get your Christmas tree up and shinning brightly.                                       XOSO SANDY

Oh My we hate like pigs and laughed our selves silly...what a fun day!

Whew, the day was a success!
What a great time we all had together sitting around the table, laughing, telling stories of the past and present, moaning and groaning cuz we all ate too much, but.... still talking about our leftover feast we will enjoy today.
Mr. Chef packs them all up a goodie bag (he cooks enough so they can all have some to take home) then they can remember the day and what fun it was while stuffing their faces again!!!!!  We think Thanksgiving is as much about the leftovers as the meal itself.   We are all so THANKFUL!!!  Very Greatful!
A side note: He just brought me my coffee with a christmas tree image on the top (he thinks he's a Starbucks worker...lol).... is that just the sweetest jesture?  I'm really lucky in the food department..that's why a huge diet is starting on the first...Guess we might be going to get our tree today...subtle image.  Thanks my Mr. Chef!
Our birthday girl turned 45...actually tomorrow is the real day, but is celebrated on Thanksgiving...... cake, candles, singing, pumpkin cheese cake....Oh my, here I go again on the food.  lol
I sure hope all my friends out in this fantastic blogging world had a day to "remember" too.
The christmas boxes are calling me............ love to you all.....

Thanksgiving Feast ... Turkey Day...Can't wait!!

I wanted to share with you my Thanksgivings Day Tablescape.   Sick or not, I had to get this ready for us to have a "party".  So, I drug myself back and forth, back and forth, back and forth all day long until I had it finished.  What should have taken an hour or two turned into most of the day.    Moan......
When you have to waltz with tables and chairs, climb on chairs (ladder hauling would have sent me into a tizzy) searching for the unknown, the time just seems to slip away.
So this year our theme is "willy-nilly", a collection of things gathered from around the house that seemed appropriate for the Pilgrams and Indians to give "thanks" for all their blessings.

Wishing you a Happy Turkey Day!

Two days to go and I'm sick!

Goodmorning Everyone!

Well, low and behold I've come down with some dreaded illness..head cold, sneezing, coughing, feel like poop! And, just two days to pull it all together for Thanksgiving.
I know I can do it, I know I can, just gotta get up and get going.  Whew..that sounds overwhelming.
Thank goodness my WONDERFUL husband does all the cooking...yep, I'm lucky, but....he's a way better chef than I am.  So the family will have some great food to celebrate the day.  And, it's our daughters 45th (oh did I say that out loud???) birthday... (I was only nine back in the day....HA HA) that we will celebrate too.  She's requested a Rocky Road Cake....now, thats a good one.  But, he will come thru for her, you can bet your bottom dollar.  He made homemade marshmellow for the center, then cashews will be added (looked on the back of the candy bar to get ideas) and broken up Rocky road candy for the top...oh, it's a milk chocolate cake .....My mouth is watering, you see I'm a chocolaholic so this is right up my alley.  Guess I'll attempt to get the table in order, it just might take all day.  Decorate...decorate...decorate....

My Peg Ski Girls are finally finished...Yippy!

Thank you so much Elizabeth of Creative Breathing for your inspiration and thoughtfulness in helping me get these little girls done.  This year I've decided to incorporate this new funny lime green that they are showing in all the magazines and stores.  Of course it wouldn't be Christmas without some red thrown in, now would it?
I got just a little carried away thinking I needed a bunch of them to hang on the tree, come on you know a couple just wouldn't do the trick.  I'm trying to make a green statement here....a LIME green statement.
I thought I'd made twelve...well, guess again, jokes on me I can't even count......there are 14.  Math never was my strong suit!!
When they get hung on the tree with care... I will give you another look at how they are just going to "make" our tree.

Little Snow House

I seem to have a theme going with Snowmen.  I couldn't decide what to put in the front yard, then......I found this cute little snowman head and soon enough I'd come up with my answer.  The body is really and Easter Egg...but, I won't tell if you don't!  The house started out as one of those papermache houses from the craft store...after hours of decorating this is the finished product.  I'm pretty happy....what do you think?  My neighbor Amy of *Vintage Clubhouse* (check out her blog ....I'll bet you'll see another little house soon) and myself seem to end up having more craft days than humanly possible, I KNOW how everyone can relate to that.  Hee Hee  The more glitter the better, sparkle sparkle, shinny shinny, ....we love things that sparkle.  So, now this Little Snow House will sit proudly amongest all the other Christmas decorations when they make their grand entrance sooooooooooooooon!

Have a wonderful weekend... I will, we will have our grandson Nathaniel, he loves craft projects as much as I do and he's only seven.    xoso Sandy

Baby World of Whimsy

My mini collection has given me the chance to create smaller vignettes....well, as you can see I've taken it to and entire different level.  It makes me laugh to see the silliness I've spent hours on....furniture hanging from the walls, cabbage baby, deer in the crib...it doesn't get any funnier....isn't that what makes the world go round...laughter???  Hope this puts a smile on your face.

WOW.... World of Whimsy

I've been collecting miniatures for years, have had big houses, little houses, more than one house...well, lets just say I've had my share of houses.  But, this year I decided to dump the house and make a "world of whimsy... WOW!   So, I waltzed the tall white cupboard out of the bathroom and started a remodel on it.  The floors are all moss, the walls are scrapping paper, and the rest  are bits and pieces that I collected  from my crafts supplies.  It has the theme of Alice and Wonderland...that just seemed so appropiate, don't you think?  Big..little...tiny...rabbits, animals, forks and spoons, jewels, and the list goes on.  Have a gander.

Rearranging my blog

I can't leave well enough alone... I always have to be messing with things...   Hence the changes I've made to my site....and, they I'm not done yet, as if you couldn't tell.  Had to go outside and help paint the house, so I couldn't continue on with all this nonsense.  LOL  Be patient with me, sooner or later I'll get it right.  Thanks for looking!   xoso Sandyh

Snowmen are done!

Today I managed to finish my  little pink cheeked  Snowmen Ornaments... I saw them in a magazine and knew I'd have to attempt making some for my tree.  I am beyond thrilled at how cute they turned out.  Took longer than I anticipated, but isn't that the way?  Well, now I'm on to my next creative endevor, that would be Elizabeth's Peg Dolls from Creative Breathing....... gee I hope they turn out as cute as her's.  She has such a way with felt.

Napkin Rings are finished.......

I'm very excited that my napkin rings turned out so cute.  Very different for me, usually I have to have ones that I spend and arm and leg on, but....not this year, this year I'm going for a more simple, natural look and feel.   They'll compliment the Thanksgiving table.

Happy Tuesday

It's a beautiful day in the neighborhood.... All's good!  Today is a crafting day, maybe I'll post some pictures of the creations...hopefully they will turn out as good as I think they will.  Can't wait to get the Thanksgiving crafts finished so I can REALLY start on the Christmas ones.  All in good time Sandy...all in good time.

Sunday, November 7, 2010

I think it's time for me to make myself useful today... I wonder what that will entail?  I might just sneak away to the crafting world and lose myself in the merriment of paper, bling, ink and the like.  Oh how I do love to mess with ephemorah.  Or..I could go load the dishwasher.  Nah, that can happen later.  Did you set your clocks back?  It's almost a no-brainer anymore, they all change on their own.  No excuses for being late, huh?  Happy Sunday all.

Can I make it work?

As I sit here the minutes are turning into hours...can I ever make it work?  I'm going to keep typing and trying to add pictures...let's hope that I can finally have something to share with all of you!!!
