My Wreath Obsession continues.....

                     I had to get the front door wreath ready to welcome in March.....
                                                           the little sign does it's job.

Each month I add something more to the wreath...such as the grapevine silk greens that were added for the Valentine wreath and the cards.  

 This month I  removed the cards and just added this Shamrock sign for St. Patty's Day.

Just a little "tweaking" and you have a completely new look for pennies. 

Remember to take your coupons to Michael's (which you can down load on the computer)

and use to purchase a holiday decoration.

My rule is.....you don't go there and shop without a COUPON.

A NEW header....

    I'm so happy....today Mr. Wonderful helped me make a new header for my blog, I think it looks really nice.

    I ran around the house taking pictures of things that I love...it looks like the dogs won out.

SNOW.....We got SNOW... In California!

Today has been exciting...we got SNOW... can you believe that? 

 We never get snow, it's been like a hundred years or so since it snowed here.  That's a WOW kinda day!

Everyone taking pictures and posting on facebook...I mean this is huge.

  Storm watch 2011...made the correct prediction.  And, we all thought those silly weathermen didn't know what they were talking about.  Hummm 

 Egg on our faces!  Or no, that's snow. 

I'll give you a little look-see!

 I ran out in my bare feet...no coat, no hat, no gloves....cuz is doesn't snow it California.  My hair is wet and snow damp, my feet are freezing, my shirt is getting wet....but, it doesn't snow in California. 

I quickly hand made (is there any other way?) these sweet snowmen...afraid the snow would melt before I got them completed.  As you can see my hair is a mess, I'm a mess, but who cares... it's SNOWING!

And, the deck scene in the back.... OMG...it's a lovely snow day.

I had to share this remarkable event with all of you... it's almost to much to take in.  SNOW! 

I wanted to lay down and send snow angels to you all.....but, that was a bit overboard.

WREATH ADDICTION.....

                                         I'm beginning to think I have a *wreath addiction*!
                                                           I can't help myself.

                 Since putting the red berry one on my hutch, now it seems so bare without. 

                            Yesterday I found myself at Michael's searching for just the one I wanted.  It was twenty one dollars (I know, can you believe that?) but, I had my trusty 40% off coupon in hand..... and, I wanted the darn thing. 
                                            I've been messing with it ever since.

            You'd think it would take just a little time to embellish...no no no...this wreath wouldn't come together as easily as I thought it should.  Just kept working until I was happy.

                                                          So...here's the end result.

AFTER.......

The bird originally was lavender, that certainly wouldn't work...out came the paint brushes and paint and I went to work.   MUCH BETTER.  

Then I scoured the house for more "things" to add....the little berries (I think I have a berry addiction too) seem just perfect.  

Lastly, the nest...how adorable is it?  

I'm not sure the pictures do it all justice...seems better in person.

Still worthy to share!

A GREEN BUFFET SCAPE

Hi Everyone..... 

How are you today? 

It's one of those days where I can't get on with what I should be doing, so I'm doing what I want to do.  

Today it was redoing the buffet scape from red to green, after all.... St. Patty's Day is right around the corner. 

My camera skills sometimes don't perform as well as they should.  Know what I mean? 

That big window causes all kinds of light trouble... this is the best I could do.

How was YOUR weekend?

 
Did you have fun?   Were you productive?  Were you quiet?
 Were you busy?   Did you enjoy friends?  Did you smell the roses?  I hope what ever you did you did it with gusto!

Well, we had a fantastic time....headed up the Coast Highway to Half Moon Bay for dinner and sleep-over with our good friends. 

The food couldn't have been more delicious...Oso Buco..all the fixings and a too die for chocolate dessert...My mouth is watering just thinking about it now...wish I had some.  Yummy. 

Our other couple brought breakfast...fresh blackberries with cream, a sausage and veggie puff pastry, with a lemon chess pie... cheeses, crackers, coffee...OMgosh it was delish! 

We supplied the libations....wine...wine...and more wine!  

Snuggled around the fireplace we started planning our European vacation..... all voted the South of France in 2012... can't WAIT.
  
For this year it was decided that Yellowstone might be our little get-a-way!  Still have some research to do on that.

Feeling blessed to have such wonderful friends to share our lives~~~~~~

ANNIVERSARY~~~ FOR US!

What a difference thirty years makes! 

  Today we are celebrating our Anniversary!

   Thirty years ago we drove ourselves off to Reno to get married!

   Being ever so romantic....after the ceremony, we wandered around MGM Grand and stumbled across and one of those photo shops where you dress up in old garb! 
 

    Well, leave it to us...we dressed up in *OUR* wedding attire....and here we are.  
   

I'm off to meet Mr. Wonderful for lunch.....

Toile Wall Swag Reveal~~~~~

                                    Another phase of the bedroom done! 

        The toile fabric came...omgosh does it make me happy!  I think toile has to be one of my favorite fabrics of all time! 

         I danced around on the bed (like I seem too do with all my furniture) trying to hang and design the swag.  It turned out just like I wanted....whew!!!!!

        I've still got a yards left....not sure what I will be making next. 
                        Pillows???  Window treatments???  Bedding???  I must think! 

       So, you've got the fireplace vignette across from this newest addition...just to give you and idea of where I'm heading with this redo.

February ...... Happy Homemaker Tag Along

It's show and tell day with our Happy Homemaker Tag Alongs!  

       Wow, this month sure flew by fast!

      My theme is little vintage girls following the song Calendar Girl. 

    This tag is especially close to my heart,it represents a little girl with her doll! And, do I love dolls!

    Not to mention that she resembles Little Lulu my all time favorite cartoon.

   "Little Lulu little Lulu with freckles on her chin, always in and out of trouble but mostly always in....." 

     Here I go with another song.  I'll quit while I'm ahead.

Show and tell.......fireplace redo!

The fireplace was calling me! 

 I did a little redo to it....since the room is getting a slight makeover with the black and tan toile I thought it would be fun to start moving things around in there.

The wreath was made with  Romance novel pages rolled up and secured on a wire wreath.  I had picked up a box of vintage postcards at a yard sale, not having a clue how I would use them.....well, when the wreath turned out too small, the only thing to do was add them to the outside, suspended from wire. 

 I made the little flowers from some kind of cleaning mop, which I found at the dollar store.  Tore it apart and added glitter, buttons and pearls. 

 I think the sepia and black and white cards mix nicely together.

                        The book wouldn't stand open......so, I tied each side with jute....gives it another texture.

A few months back the idea of making a crown would not leave my head...so, this is my creation.  Thought it was lovely on the Mercury glass candle holder. 

Had fun redoing....not sure if it will stay this way, but.... I had a great time creating the vignette.

Sweet weather in California

The porch was looking pretty sad....it needed some sprucing up, after all it is the changing of the season!

 

A little purple here a little yellow there....they are so darn pretty, don't ya think?

 The wreath was looking a bit tacky...needed a little TLC.....so, I added more green and three little Valentine Cards...thinking it's got the holiday spirit happenin' now. 

California is giving us some pretty sweet weather.  But....you never know, it could turn on a dime and rain tomorrow, that's the weather forecast here on the home front.

 It's feelin' like Spring...so what does that mean?   New plants, new flowers, a little color on the front porch!  Not ready for the rest of the yard, frost could still sneak up on us. 

Felt good to get my hands dirty today.... hope your day was fun too.
