Show and tell.......fireplace redo!

The fireplace was calling me! 

 I did a little redo to it....since the room is getting a slight makeover with the black and tan toile I thought it would be fun to start moving things around in there.

The wreath was made with  Romance novel pages rolled up and secured on a wire wreath.  I had picked up a box of vintage postcards at a yard sale, not having a clue how I would use them.....well, when the wreath turned out too small, the only thing to do was add them to the outside, suspended from wire. 

 I made the little flowers from some kind of cleaning mop, which I found at the dollar store.  Tore it apart and added glitter, buttons and pearls. 

 I think the sepia and black and white cards mix nicely together.

                        The book wouldn't stand open......so, I tied each side with jute....gives it another texture.

A few months back the idea of making a crown would not leave my head...so, this is my creation.  Thought it was lovely on the Mercury glass candle holder. 

Had fun redoing....not sure if it will stay this way, but.... I had a great time creating the vignette.

Sweet weather in California

The porch was looking pretty sad....it needed some sprucing up, after all it is the changing of the season!

 

A little purple here a little yellow there....they are so darn pretty, don't ya think?

 The wreath was looking a bit tacky...needed a little TLC.....so, I added more green and three little Valentine Cards...thinking it's got the holiday spirit happenin' now. 

California is giving us some pretty sweet weather.  But....you never know, it could turn on a dime and rain tomorrow, that's the weather forecast here on the home front.

 It's feelin' like Spring...so what does that mean?   New plants, new flowers, a little color on the front porch!  Not ready for the rest of the yard, frost could still sneak up on us. 

Felt good to get my hands dirty today.... hope your day was fun too.

2 NEW lamps @ a pillow...swoon.

I'm on a roll..... today's shopping trip proved successful!

 Home Goods was good to me! 

I found two darling lamps.... with, none the less, black and white toile on the interior of the shade.  Could that be any better?  So chic...so sophisticated.  Just down right cute. 

The pillow just screamed.... "put me with the toile"...so in my basket it went.

If  all that wasn't good enough... I got to be escorted by my two lovely girls...daughter and granddaughter...and we stuffed our faces at In and Out Burger~~ 

                  Such a fun day!

Yellow REMOVED

WOW... that took some time.

 I clicked on everything looking for the highlighter....none to be found.  Then as I clicked on the yellow I noticed that the TEXT BACKGROUND COLOR  had a little yellow line under the pen/brush....so, I clicked there and whoopie.....I made it go away.  

Learned something new today..... I know how to make things colored.

I don't know how I did this?   Yellow yellow kiss a fellow.   What did I do?   How do I get rid of the yellow? I'm so confused.

Reveal.......The HAPPY DANCE!!

BEFORE

Here is my messy craft room before the dance of the furniture.



Our octagon house is one that is pretty hard to decorate...if you've ever tried to make a room work with different sized walls you know what I'm talking about.  I measured and measured to see if I could squeeze the "hulk" into the corner...YEP...it fit.  So we (me and the mouse in my pocket) did the dance.
 I would have left well alone........but, I wanted the huge white cabinet out of the bedroom.  As I said earlier, I'm redoing or should I say *embellishing* the bedroom with new fabric...Black toile that is on order and the big hulk just wasn't working in there any longer.  


I talked to my daughter (Lollygag-Inn blog) and she said.....*Be careful Mom, we are getting old*.   GETTING.... I'm already OLD.  So sweet of her to be worried about me.  Love that girl.

Spent the entire day in there and there is still more to do...always more to do.  But, I'm confident that I did the best I could do. 

It amazes me how by moving a few key pieces, the room works better than it ever has before.

Inspired to REARRANGE

I've been hopping around this morning from blog to blog and have been soooo inspired by all you wonderful creative ladies............

SO, I decided it was time to rearrange some of the furniture in my bedroom and craft room.

 I'm adding Black and Natural Toile to the bedroom (it's on order) and need to remove one of the pieces of furniture..  
So, I'm going to try and cram it into my craft room... OMG it's so full now, but with persistence and fingers crossed I should be able to do it. 

Hopefully I'll have some great pictures to share later on.  I sure hope so!!!!
