Mini Storybook REDO....oh no!

Call me crazy...or not....but, I HAD to redo Storybook!

I have trouble with colors...bright colors, as pretty as they are, they can make me nervous.

I tried so hard to keep it colorful and cheery...but, I need calm and serene.

I tried to live with the sweetness of Storybook  but, my thoughts just kept saying ..redo...redo...redo!

So, I painted out all the colors to soft white...
whew...much better!

And, painted all the little minis that stood still...
that would be most of them.

All I could think about was French, French, French!

Here is my take on a French country cottage for Storybook.

Oh yeah, there is still way more to do, but at last she found her way home.

The floors got whitewashed too!

I have a collection of vintage postcards...they make perfect mini pictures with their sepia/black and white tones.

When I first built Storybook, I put a window on each wall....WRONG!  Too many windows, couldn't put in a fireplace or any tall furniture.  Lesson learned!!

I covered the window up from the inside, but it still looks like there is a window in place from the outside.
Now, I could add a fireplace.

New lace curtains giving the room softness...

Pillows, needs MORE pillows.  Boy, am I glad I didn't make all my squishy salt pillows in bright colors...
And, books...it needs lots and lots of books...

Care for a cup of tea?

Doesn't every house need a banner?

Bucket of papers.

A little wall hanging made from scrapbook paper, matches the banner.

More greenery....

and....
the roof is finished!
There is no chimney, we must pretend.

Storybook sitting in her new room!

The color scheme of Storybook, now fits into the color scheme of the room.

Much better, really!

Hope you've enjoyed watching this cute little cottage come to life (and it's redo)
...always more too think up, more too make, more too share...

I'm gonna make a little kitchen cottage next.....
stay tuned!

xoso

Sandy

  2. I liked the other one, but this one is lovely too! Beautiful photos and tour. Thanks for the tip on not putting in all the windows. I was wondering about that myself (in the middle of the night a few nights ago!). You made this one much smaller too, right? It looks adorable! :-) Jennifer

    1. Jennifer....
This is the "other" one, there is only one house. I redid it!
Emptied it... repainted some other furniture and decorated it in these new colors.

The first design was cute, but not my color scheme, as much as I wanted it to be.

Isn't it funny how we "think" in the middle of the night? I do it all the time. lol
That was one of the things I thought about and had to make the big change. The color!

Same house, different colors. I redo things at the drop of a hat if it's not to my liking. Like I said: Call me crazy!

Leave at least one wall solid.
Thanks for stopping by. Have a lovely weekend.

    1. So happy you stopped over for a visit and tour! It's a labor of love as we all know, but...how many times can we redo one little house? lol
The exterior was so fun to create...I've always focused on the interior, this time I took the "time" to actually do the outside. I love it to. Thanks for the lovely words of encouragement.

  12. Hi Sandy! Thank you for making me laugh! I liked the "old" house, I like the "new" house...but I LOOOOVE the picture of the Storybook in your real room!!! I like the French style, but sometimes there is too much white used to feel comfortable for me, your real room looks sooo beautiful with the dark secretary and the wonderful pictures on the wall! Happy weekend!

  13. Hi Sandra! I just joined your blog and so I have not seen your house as it was before you changed it. It looks so beautiful now. It's just perfect and I adore what you have done to the exterior. I will go back and read your blog a bit to familiarize myself with everything. I'm curious to see what the house looked like before you redecorated it.

  14. I love the white! And the outside of the cottage with more flowers is outstanding! It's looking so cute. I'm sure you are going to make many more houses now that you figured out it's not so hard.
